Position: ESL Specialist
Department/Campus: Regional Reports to Regional ESL Coordinator
FLSA Status: Exempt Pay Grade: Band V
Job Type Full-Time Work Hours Normal Work hours (215 days)
JOB ROLES:
Complete and compile all LPAC assessment, documentation, training, and classification data for the ESL program at feeder campuses in the
region.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor”s degree required; Master”s degree preferred
• ESL/Bilingual certification required
• Previous experience as a campus coordinator or administrator experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with a willingness to be flexible when needed.

ESL SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure that feeder campuses effectively implement the ESL program aligned to district goals by working collaboratively with campus teams (Administration, CTC, Federal Programs, Registrar, etc.).
• Support planning, preparing for, and facilitating all Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) meetings for each feeder campus, and keeping track of student data throughout the year to ensure proper completion of Identification, Review, Assessment, and Reclassification of EB and Monitor students.
• Maintain and complete all EB documentation for feeder campuses in a timely manner, and ensure that all records are kept confidential in accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines, state, federal laws (FERPA).
• Support feeder campus CTC”s and administration with identification and state assessment testing to ensure equitable access for EB students.
• Update the school database for all feeder campuses in a timely manner to reflect accurate coding of EB students, including EB denials and monitoring year 1 and year 2 students for FSP submissions and years 3 and 4 for Federal monitoring.
• Train parents, administrators, and staff at all feeder campuses on the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) in accordance with TEA, and ensure they understand and comply with confidentiality of students in accordance with both state and federal laws.
• Train feeder campus teachers on the completion of required EB documentation, and work with campus administrators to collect information for meetings in a timely manner.
• Train feeder campus teachers in implementing instructional strategies, materials, technology tools, and digital learning platforms for EB students which will enhance the learning and language proficiency development to ensure equitable access.
• Collaborate with district personnel and other feeder campus professionals to carry out school-wide instructional or related activities for EB students and their parents to better educate them on EB services and programs (Title III events, etc).
• Plan and conduct parent meetings in coordination with applicable feeder campus staff, as needed (i.e. conferences with the parents of EB denial students, failing monitor students, and exited EB students).
• Participate in professional development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned, and implement new learning.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.
• Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
• Position is in an office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
• Moderate travel is required.
