We are seeking an ESOL/TEFL/ESL Teaching Assistants to join a fabulous school in the heart of Cardiff. With a diverse student base this school is the first school students will be assigned to when arriving to the UK from overseas, many of them having limited English language skills. This school prides itself on being in a position to support these students making their first encounters with the British school system a pleasant one, building strong relationships with its pupils they offer a range of opportunities including sports.

This role would be perfect for a teaching assistant or teacher who has a passion for languages and supporting children in a more pastoral way, helping them navigate the school day, classes and their new city.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist in planning, preparing, and delivering lessons specifically designed for English language learning.
  • Support students in their assignments and help them improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
  • Work closely with the lead teacher to assess students’ progress and provide feedback to help them improve.
  • Engage with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide personalised language support.
  • Utilise various educational tools and approaches to make learning engaging and effective for students.
  • Maintain records of students’ progress and attendance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certification or equivalent is desired
  • Experience in an educational setting, preferably in language teaching.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by learners of English as a second language.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team and adapt to varying educational needs.
  • Passionate about language education and committed to student success.
