Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County is an organization dedicated to serving a diverse international population.
We are seeking creative and enthusiastic ESL instructors to join our team to teach one or two classes. Experience teaching beginning level English to adults is preferred. Available classes include morning and evening in-person classes in our Ypsilanti location, as well as an online class.
Total hours/week: 6 - 20.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Qualifications
ESL classroom instruction experience, or experience teaching in a related field, with appropriate graduate level coursework.
Experience teaching adults and working or volunteering with refugees.
TESOL Certification and M.A. preferred.

REQUIRED LANGUAGE SKILLS

Total hours/week: 6 - 20.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare for and teach scheduled ESL classes for adults.
- Assist with the ongoing administration of pre- and post-testing according to Michigan Adult Education assessment guidelines.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and course materials.
- Maintain weekly attendance records in each class.
- Meet with the Program Manager to consult on students, curriculum, and administrative duties. Attend weekly ESL team meetings and other staff meetings as scheduled.
- Position is year round. Classes generally meet Monday through Thursday.
