EAL Teacher
Location: Canterbury, Kent
Salary: £100 - £200 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: Immediate start available
Contract: Full-time, long-term
GSL Education are seeking a passionate and experienced EAL Teacher to join a reputable secondary school in Canterbury.
The successful EAL Teacher will support students who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL), helping them to overcome language barriers and achieve academic success across the curriculum. This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated educator to make a significant impact on students' lives, enabling them to thrive in an English-speaking learning environment.
Responsibilities of the EAL Teacher:
Plan and deliver tailored English language lessons to support EAL students in improving their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Work closely with subject teachers to develop and implement strategies that support EAL students in accessing the mainstream curriculum.
Assess students' language abilities, set learning targets, and monitor their progress to ensure they reach their full potential.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with varying levels of English proficiency.
Foster an inclusive learning environment where cultural diversity is celebrated and respected.
Requirements for the EAL Teacher Role:
A relevant degree in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field, with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Previous experience working with EAL students in a secondary school setting.
Strong understanding of EAL pedagogy and strategies for supporting language acquisition.
Excellent communication skills and a commitment to promoting language development.
A thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to the welfare of all students.
