For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens, and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.
STATEMENT OF THE JOB
The E.S.L Instructor will be responsible to deliver the ESL classes and monitor and assure the progress of enrollees toward achieving the Program Performance targets and milestones.
* Provide Intake, Assessment and Orientation for each enrollee.
* Research and develop new resources and materials to enhance the teaching curricula.
* Provide class instruction in ESL.
* Administer BEST PLUS tests at intake and regularly thereafter to monitor and document enrollee progress.
* Maintain Milestone performance files for each enrollee.
* Maintain enrollee attendance. Follow-up with enrollees as needed to ensure their continued participation. Maintain office hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelors Degree of Arts
* Two years” experience teaching ESL to adults in a community based environment.
* Ability to work evenings and Saturdays as required.
* Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment as needed between 5-10 pounds.
* Transportation time spent commuting between sites for meetings and trainings.
* Ability to travel to multiple locations as needed.
