Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of curriculum design and implementation, assessment, and technology for ESL/ENL programs

- Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, teachers, staff, and the general public
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate District functions
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops a research-based philosophy for ESL/ENL curriculum which provides guidelines for developing the curriculum.
- Develops a scope and sequence; sets goals, objectives, and exit standards; and identifies strategies appropriate for implementing the ESL/ENL curriculum.
- Works with curriculum review committees to revise curriculum as needed.
- Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day operations and activities of the ESL/ENL Program including language assessment, placement, and monitoring of multilingual learner (MLL) .
- Works with principals in the supervision of instruction of ESL teachers; provides support and in-services as needed.
- Collaborates with others (e.g. teachers, administrators, students, parents, other District personnel, community organizations, etc.) to develop and strengthen services and programs.
- Works cooperatively with teachers, principals, and district-level administration to analyze academic and linguistic student achievement results to coordinate, implement, and strengthen ESL/ENL programming improvements district-wide.
- Collaborates with other programs affecting linguistic and culturally diverse populations and advocates for improving and expanding services for linguistic and culturally diverse populations in Special Education, Gifted AP programs, and other district initiatives.
- Actively participates in local, state, and national level professional learning and disseminates information to District staff.
- Facilitates and plans professional learning opportunities districtwide.
- Collaborates with family liaison to plan and manage events that promote ESL/ENL family involvement and facilitate school-based family opportunities.
- Provides support for the retention, recruitment, and transition of students across all levels K-12.
- Supervises and coordinates procurement of interpreters for MLL students and families.
- Plans with district-level administrators and principals to establish and attain goals for the school system in concert with the District’s Comprehensive Plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Professional Learning Expectations:
- Implements an ongoing, systematic, results-based staff development program that is aligned with District and building goals and which provides for the needs of individual staff members.
- Plans and leads professional development workshops across the year to keep all staff up-to date in ESL/ENL best practices, current research, and significant developments in state and national policy.
- Maintains current in MLL methodology and best teaching practices through research and attendance at professional development activities and professional meetings.
- Initiates self-reflection and professional development learning to develop skills appropriate to job assignment.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree required.
- Major in TESOL
- Major in Bilingual Education
- Major in Educational Leadership
- PA Administrative Certificate: Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction K-12 and/or Principal PK-12
- Successful experience working with English Learners and/or Dual Language Instruction
- Instructional leadership experience preferred
