The LSS Center for New Americans seeks an ESL Instructor with a love for teaching and a passion to serve refugee and immigrant adult English Learners. If you have experience teaching ESL and the ability to communicate with beginning through advanced level students, we invite you to apply. HOURS: Variable, depending upon need. Teaching opportunities will include daytime hours between 7:45am and 2:30pm. May also include evening and weekend instruction. This is an on-call, part-time position.
BENEFITS:
SALARY: Depends on experience and qualifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide English as a Second Language, vocational English and/or citizenship instruction to refugee and immigrant adults. Maintain class attendance and teach classes with the plans and materials provided. May be called on to prepare lesson plans for long-term substitute teaching assignments. Maintain regular communication with supervisor regarding availability for any upcoming subbing opportunities. Communicate with regular instructor about class content covered.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor”s degree in Education, English or related field and one year of teaching experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be enthusiastic, well-organized and reliable. Must have cross-cultural experience and an ability to communicate with limited English speakers. Must be flexible and able to teach English to beginning level students with limited previous formal education. Must successfully complete all agency background checks.
