Job Description
Licensed, dedicated English as a Second Language Teacher needed at IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville. Small groups taught Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. This is a part time position without benefits.
Salary based on IC Imagine's Certified/ Licensed Teachers Salary Schedule
Duties and Responsibilities:
Licensed, dedicated English as a Second Language Teacher needed at IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville. Small groups taught Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. This is a part time position without benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to ELLs in a one-on-one or small group setting
- Develop and implement personalized learning plans to address the unique needs of each ELL
- Provide translated documents and materials to support ELLs' understanding and participation in class activities
- Must maintain positive communication with students, families and teachers
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff to identify and implement appropriate accommodations for ELLs
- Promote understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures and backgrounds within the classroom
- Utilize a positive reinforcement behavioral system
- Plan and carry out ESL lessons with small groups of children.
- Actively supervise and interact with children.
- Be a responsible and reliable member of the team.
- Interact with children in a positive manner.
- Work closely with Learning Specialists and general education teachers to coordinate ESL program efforts.
- Monitor and maintain accurate data and records on student progress towards instructional goals.
- Assist in carrying out required ESL program assessments and testing.
- Support student support team by carrying out clerical tasks.
- Time spent organizing, documenting and keeping records up to date.
- Independently executing said activities.
- Assist in arrival and/or dismissal as needed.
- Provide coverage for K-5 classrooms as needed.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and instructional strategies
- Skilled in problem solving and decision making as well as observation, listening, and coaching
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
- Possess strong time management skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and multitask in a busy environment
- Proficiency with GSuite
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Education, ESL, or a related field
- ESL certification or equivalent experience
- Teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) certification preferred
- 1 year teaching experience preferred
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, squatting, reaching and bending
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
