The job of ESL Aide Level 2 (Students) - Teaching Assistant - STUDENTS ESL (Level 2) is done for the purpose/s of , with limited on-site supervision of a certified teacher serving as ESL program coordinator, identifying and working with English Language Learners (ELL Students) to support English language acquisition on a scheduled basis; administering English language proficiency assessments to measure student progress; and using prescribed strategies and materials to prepare individualized lessons and activities for students.

Essential Functions
  • Administers English proficiency assessments for the purpose of identifying and measuring student progress for the purpose of supporting classroom teachers.
  • Assists teachers for the purpose maintaining student files and determining students' needs and conveying information to appropriate instructional personnel and parents for the purpose of ensuring learning goals are achieved.
  • Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments for the purpose of reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Implements under the supervision of the certified teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans provided by and under the supervision of the teacher for the purpose of reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Supports new students and families for the purpose of establishing familiarity with the learning environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
