Description
Salary: This LTS professional position follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule, starting at Bachelor's, Step 1 - $53,778 for the 24/25 SY
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, August 2024 - April 1st, 2025
Location: Various (Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry County locations)
Job Goal: To remediate and guide English Learners (ELs) in a professional manner while collaborating with stakeholders in order to help facilitate student success.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Act as a liaison between the student and other teachers, staff members and family
2. Recommend entry and exit of students into the ELD program based on multiple criteria
3. Notify parents within the state-mandated time period concerning assessment results and progress toward goals
4. Maintain and communicate accurate and up-to-date data on students to appropriate stakeholders
5. Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons for students based on available research of best practices in the field
6. Conduct effective assessments to identify levels of language proficiency, acquisition, and content learning
7. Select and/or modify appropriate learning materials from appropriate sources and share with regular classroom teachers
8. Maintain ongoing communication with families of ELs
9. Monitor academic achievement of reclassified former English Learners
10. Participate in individualized education plan (IEP) preparation for English Learners receiving special education assistance/services
11. Provide school staff with resources/professional activities to promote understanding and sensitivity toward all cultures
12. Prepare and maintain current schedules, lesson plans, and other appropriate information/material that are available for supervisory submission, review, and approval
13. Complete and maintain all record keeping as required by the program, Federal and State regulations, and the CAIU
14. Perform duties that are building related, including, but not limited to, lunch and recess supervision, bus loading and unloading, and planning and implementation of special programs
15. Prepare and maintain detailed substitute information, including current lesson plans, that is easily accessible
16. Know and comply with the host facility's protocols/rules for staff and students.
17. Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor or his/her designee.
18. Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director or his/her designee.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree required.
2. Valid Pennsylvania ESL Program Specialist Certificate (PK-12)
3. Strong verbal and written language skills
4. Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to build rapport with a wide variety of stakeholders
6. Proficient computer skills and knowledge including use of Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software may be required
