Summary of Position
To teach part time for the English Language Institute at Youngstown State University. Teaching opportunities will be based on need for each 8-week term. Instructors will work with students that have limited English language proficiency to assist them in becoming proficient in English and prepare them for academic studies. ESOL courses may be available in the following areas: Grammar, Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Responsibilities include teaching courses according to approved syllabus, facilitating lessons and giving weekly assessments, grading assessments and giving feedback to students, tracking student progress, and submitting midterm and final grades.
Work Schedule: Based on course load but a maximum of 21 hours per week.

Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.
Ability to contribute to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the University community through teaching.

Qualifications and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor's degree in TESOL/applied linguistics or bachelor's degree in related field with TESOL Certification.
Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree in TESOL/applied linguistics or master's in related field with TESOL Certification.Prior ESOL or foreign language teaching experience.
