Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach adult second language learners at SPL 0-2, reading GL 0-1.9 basic components of English to include reading, writing, speaking, and listening in an in-person and/or remote capacity, as needed.
- Identify and develop appropriate curricula and teaching materials to aid students to advance their English skills.
- Monitor and assess students' progress. Communicate with students about their progress.
- Maintain records of attendance and grades.
- Compile and submit lesson plans and curriculum reports as required.
- Attend appropriate professional development trainings.
- Assist with assessment and placement of students.
- Attend and participate in departmental, organization-wide, and other meetings. Attend a minimum of 6 hours professional development provided by SABES or other approved organization.
- Act in the best interest of the organization, reflecting the values of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to relate and to work with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of instructional materials and methods used for adult education.
- Knowledge of curriculum design and development.
- Ability to comply with pre-employment CORI background check.
Education & Experience:
- TESOL certification and/or 3 years-experience in a related position
- Experience with Evidence Based Reading Instruction (alphabetics and fluency components) preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 15 pounds.
