The Continuing Education Department at Bergen Community College invites applications for a part-time instructor position in our Corporate Training ESL program. A qualified ESL instructor will provide English language lessons to students who work at local companies.

POSITION SUMMARY

• Conduct activities and lessons based on ESL teaching methodologies
• Maximize students' talk time through oral tests and presentations
• Plan lessons and activities, adopt a creative approach, and encourage and motivate students to learn
• Deliver online classes if necessary
• Develop the course curriculum in compliance with industry standards
• Maintain daily attendance
• Monitor students' performance to make suggestions for improvement and ensure they satisfy course standards, training requirements, and objectives
• Evaluate and grade students' progress and achievement
• Motivate students to participate in all aspects of the educational process actively
• Assist with course/program evaluation

Locations:

• On-site at Corporate locations in Bergen County
• Paramus Campus
• Lyndhurst Campus
• Online

Available Time Slots:

• Two weekday evenings between 6:30pm and 8:30pm (any evening from Monday to Friday)
• Two weekday afternoons between 3:00-5:00pm
• Saturday mornings from 9:00am to 1:00pm

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• TEFL Certification

Experience:

• TEFL Certification
• Excellent command of the English language
• Ability to teach students of all ages and from different backgrounds
• Ability to work after-hours and on weekends
• Display patience and cultural awareness

Salary: $35 - $50 per hour, depending on experience
