SEAMEO Regional Language Centre (RELC) is looking for a Language Specialist. The successful applicant will teach in-service teachers from Southeast Asia on professional development courses including a postgraduate Diploma and MTESOL.
He/she will be expected to:
- Plan and deliver teacher professional development programmes and courses in Applied Linguistics/TESOL (in at least four core areas of specialization in the case of Applied Linguistics/TESOL courses)
- Undertake overseas assignments as and when it is required by the Division
- Supervise MTESOL students and research fellows who are engaged in research projects at the Centre
- Develop teacher education/language teaching materials for use in face-to-face, online, and blended or hybrid courses
- Coordinate/organize courses to be taught at the Centre as well as in SEAMEO member countries
- Write and edit the Centre’s publications and publish in journals in the field of English Language Teaching/Applied Linguistics/TESOL
- Present papers at international conferences
- Organize or assist in the Centre’s annual conferences and symposia at the Centre or in SEAMEO member countries
- Offer language assessment and consultancy services as and when they are required by the Centre
- As a member of the Board of Studies, oversee and make decisions pertaining to academic matters, including selection of scholarship holders
- Undertake any committee or special project duties assigned by the division head
Requirements:
- PhD in Linguistics/Applied Linguistics/TESOL/English Language or EdD in English Language Education/TESOL/Teacher Education
- Those with a Professional Teaching Qualification (e.g., CELTA/DELTA/PGCE/Diploma in Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)/Associate Diploma in TESOL) will have an added advantage
- At least 3 years’ experience in teaching English as a second or foreign language at school or university level
- Able to teach at least 4 of the following:
- TESOL in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts
- Second Language Acquisition/Issues in Applied Linguistics
- Teaching Grammar & Vocabulary
- Teaching Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing
- Curriculum Design and Materials Development
- Language Assessment
- Technology-enhanced Language Teaching
- EMI/CLIL
- Classroom Research
