The YWCA Princeton's English as a Second Language seeks a part-time bilingual Administrative Assistant. The ESL program aims to create a safe and successful learning experience for students. Supporting the mission of eliminating racism and empowering women, the ESL program offers various classes including conversational English, citizenship preparation courses, workplace readiness and beginner to advanced ESL Core courses. Reporting to the ESL Director, the ESL Administrative Assistant should feel comfortable working with students from varying backgrounds, assisting them with course choices according to their skill-level and working schedule. It is a plus but not necessary for the candidate to have experience in teaching or administration in similar ESL or literacy programs.

The position is on-site for 15 hours per week. There is also a possibility for the ESL Administrative Assistant to teach ESL courses if the candidate possesses the right credentials.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Determine student program eligibility in collaboration with director.
  • Scheduling student intake and testing
  • Attendance monitoring and follow-up for student absences
  • Prepare student evaluation packets at the end of each semester
  • Assist with preparations for the award ceremony at the end of the year
  • Notify teachers and students of classroom assignments, room changes, and start dates
  • Assist with student registration using LACES database.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as needed
  • Ongoing record keeping of student data in accordance with state deadlines
  • Attend outreach events in the community as needed

Requirements:
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaker
  • Experience in working with databases - a plus
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
