Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver curriculum, syllabi, texts, supplemental resources, and instruction, along with learner assessments (quizzes, midterm exams, and final exams) throughout the term, in alignment with adult learning theories.
- Implement instructional processes that embody learner-centered and participatory approaches, tailored to meet individual learner needs.
- Conduct up to 25 hours per week of teaching in both classroom and lab settings.
- Employ research-based practices to facilitate course completion.
- Foster the development of independent problem solvers and critical thinkers.
- Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to align with English-speaking cultural and linguistic norms, integrating essential vocabulary, structures, and functions for personal and professional communication.
- Utilize diverse pedagogical techniques, incorporating insights into American customs and values.
- Utilize "communicative language teaching" to create interactive classrooms.
- Promote multi-skill learning while monitoring student progress and identifying remediation needs.
- Ensure strong grammatical competence development.
- Emphasize listening, speaking, and overall language proficiency enhancement.
- Integrate socio-cultural sensitivity and strategies to address language barriers.
- Complete, maintain, and submit academic reports within specified deadlines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Education, Linguistics, English, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Modern Languages (or a targeted language), from a regionally accredited institution, with three (3) years of relevant teaching and/or training experience; or Master's degree in a related field such as Education, Linguistics, English, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Modern Languages (or a targeted language), from a regionally accredited institution, with two (2) years of relevant teaching and/or training experience.
- Applicants must demonstrate:
- Full fluency in English, exceptional grammar, and strong writing skills, coupled with a dynamic teaching style that fosters student rapport.
- Experience in implementing differentiated instruction to effectively address the needs of multi-level groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and familiarity with specific computer programs, along with a readiness to operate within a computer lab environment.
- Effective presentation and instructional abilities, adept at engaging both individuals and groups.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for evening and weekend assignments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment, including students, faculty, staff, and community members from varied backgrounds.
