Job DescriptionJob Description
We are looking a part-time Experienced ESL/ Civics Teacher who is a committed, experienced, and reliable individual. The teacher should have at least 2 years of experience in teaching adults and should have zoom classroom management skills as well as in-person classroom management techniques. We are looking for a quick learner, multitasker, and energetic teacher who has an interest in working with refugees and immigrants and the ability to handle a class of an average of 15-35 adult students via zoom and/or in person.
The classes are taught in the evening from 5:30 PM TO 8:00 PM or 6 pm to 8 pm or from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm twice a week at our center in Astoria ,NY .
This is a part-time job. There is an opportunity for additional hours in the future for the right candidate to perform other office work. Preferably if the candidate has an immigration legal services background as a paralegal and/or has a strong passion to help refugees and immigrants and learn about the citizenship process. This could potentially lead to working on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 8 pm for the ideal candidate.
Our students are adults who vary in age from 18 to 70 years old. They are from 104 different countries as refugees and immigrants and are very eager to learn English and become US Citizens. Our students are also very respectful and appreciative of their teachers.
The ideal candidate should have at least a Bachelor's Degree preferably in Education, legal, TESOL, or a related field, and 2 years of ESL teaching experience..
