LEARN, a Regional Educational Service Center located in Southeastern Connecticut, invites candidates to apply for a full-time opening for an Education Consultant.

General Scope of Responsibility

This position will work within the Office of Teaching and Learning to support Multilingual Learner (ML) Programs in the region and the State of Connecticut. This position is responsible for developing and implementing high quality professional learning experiences on a variety of topics.

Relationship within the Organization

The OTL Education Consultant will be directly responsible to the Director of Teaching & Learning.


This position, operating under the Office of Teaching and Learning, will work to develop high quality professional learning experiences within the LEARN agency and region.
  • Design and conduct professional learning experiences/training for staff, teachers, and administrators on Tier 1 instructional strategies to support MLs.
  • Work with regional partners to develop robust ML programming, including but not limited to scheduling and service delivery, progress monitoring, and instructional coaching.
  • Provide technical assistance using a variety of technologies to support program administration, organization, systems/logistics, teaching, and learning.
  • Design and conduct professional learning experiences on a variety of topics for the LEARN region.
  • Foster productive working relationships with district and school administrators, program leaders, and teachers.
  • Collaborate on cross-content projects and initiatives with internal and external partners.
  • Facilitate regional roundtables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Multilingual Learner teacher, coordinator, and/or coach.
  • Master's Degree and certification in TESOL required; degree and/or experience in additional content areas a plus.
  • Experience designing and facilitating professional learning experiences required.
  • Evidence of an equity-centered approach to education.
  • Experience developing and implementing professional learning.
  • Foundational understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
