District-Wide Bilingual/ESL Elementary Instructional Specialist

The position for a DW Bilingual/ESL Elementary Instructional Specialist will be available at East Central ISD for the 2024-2025 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Support Director of Bilingual, ESL Programs for coordination of programs.
  • Assist and communicate information to parents and community members about Dual Language Immersion & ESL programs.
  • Collaborate regularly with the campus administrators, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Director and Coordinator of Bilingual, ESL & LOTE Programs to plan and discuss implementation plans and identify appropriate resources and support for teachers.
  • Collaborate with the campus administrators and central office curriculum staff in order to build instructional capacity in the classroom teachers and advance the learning of EB students in the district.
  • Work directly with Bilingual/ESL teachers in the classroom providing support for PK-12 content area curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development.
  • Assist and support Bilingual/ESL teachers with planning and preparation, pacing, teacher collaboration, data analysis, and strategies for instructing Emergent Bilingual students.
  • Provide support and resources for Bilingual/ESL teachers to enable effective content and linguistic differentiation for students.
  • Provide Bilingual/ESL teachers with ongoing, targeted classroom support through daily one-on-one and/or group interactions.
  • Assist Bilingual/ESL with the full and skillful implementation of the ELPS, RLA & SLAR standards utilizing research-based strategies.
  • Research and provide information and guidance regarding a range of effective and innovative Bilingual/ESL practices through various activities such as staff meetings, professional development programs, individual discussions, coaching sessions and demonstration lessons.
  • Collaborate with technology staff and other content specialists in designing district curriculum with embedded technology and support its implementation.
  • Consult with, and assist individual teachers to interpret, articulate and implement district curriculum and instructional models.
  • Attend subject area supervisor's meetings to network with Bilingual/ESL specialists/supervisors in other districts.
  • Seek out and participate in professional development opportunities to expand personal knowledge of second language acquisition and bi-literacy pedagogy.
  • Develop and revise Bilingual/ESL curriculum/assessment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are in alignment with Title III guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred Appropriate Texas Teacher Certificate (Bilingual/ESL)

Outstanding track record as a professional classroom teacher for at least three years

EQUIPMENT USED: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Frequent district wide travel; occasional statewide travel.

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: 210 days-basis

SALARY: Based on 2024-2025 Classroom Teacher Salary Scale plus stipend
