Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Admin Pay Grade: Prof 5: ($86,153 - $123,977) (Commensurate with Years of Experience)

Primary Purpose: Coordinate the district program for Bilingual/Dual Language and ESL students. Collaborate with district staff and outside personnel to provide educational opportunities for Bilingual/Dual Language/ESL and Migrant students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Master's degree Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsement in bilingual education
Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to organize and coordinate district-wide program Ability to interpret data Knowledge of curriculum and instruction Knowledge of strategies and materials for the education of bilingual students Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to communicate effectively with bilingual parents and students Knowledge of balanced literacy methodologies
Experience: Five years teaching experience as a bilingual or ESL teacher
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management Implement procedures and coordinate the process to identify bilingual/dual language and ESL students at all grade levels district-wide, including review of student data and testing of students. Develop and revise bilingual/dual language and ESL curriculum as needed. Work cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the bilingual/dual language and ESL programs. Assist teachers to develop and provide bilingual/dual language and ESL students with appropriate course work through curriculum modification, acceleration, etc. Develop and conduct or arrange for staff development sessions, including sessions on various instruction methods, enriched learning in classroom settings, and methods for identifying bilingual/dual language and ESL students. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the bilingual/dual language and ESL programs and implement changes based on the findings. Consultation Provide resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing program goals. Consult with parents, administrators, counselors, teachers, community agencies, and other relevant individuals regarding bilingual/dual language and ESL students. Plan and conduct parent meetings, including parent advisory committee meetings. Serve as district Migrant contact. Budget and Inventory Compile budget and cost estimates based on documented program needs. Participate in grant-writing activities to obtain program funding. Assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program. Policy, Reports, and Law Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Train campus personnel and oversee LPAC meetings and paperwork. Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and the local board policies. Supervisory Responsibilities Evaluate Bilingual/Dual Language and ESL teachers as needed. Other duties as assigned. Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent prolonged or irregular hours. Frequent district-wide travel.
