ESL Parent Liaison

Position Details (006.200)

Permanent, full-time, 12 months, 8-hours per day, benefit eligible

Reports To

Chief of Federal Programs and Student Support

Salary / FLSA / Non-Exempt

Grade 63N ($2,729.00 - $3,605.92)

Qualifications/Requirements

• Proficient in Spanish and English
• Excellent communication skills
• Basic clerical skills
• Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects

Duties

• Serve as interpreter liaison between students, school, home, and community
• Meet with parents at the ESL Welcome Center, as needed
• Translate documents for the school system / schools
• Translate/interpret for parents at IEP meetings or meetings at the school level, as needed
• Assist in managing the ESL Welcome Center, including student enrollment, record-keeping, databases, etc.
• Test newcomers with the WIDA Screener test
• Assist with the college enrollment process at each high school
• Assist school personnel with home visits, as needed
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
