Description: ESL Teacher (3) - Hackensack High School

Job Summary:

• Implement the curriculum as aligned to New Jersey Student Learning Standards;
  
• Utilize second language development theory, comprehensible input and output and apply it to daily instruction in four language domains;
  
• Differentiate academic and linguistic instruction for students at varying levels of attainment;
  
• Prepare and implement lessons that provide meaningful learning experiences for students;
  
• Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff;
  
• Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required;
  
• Prove a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus;
  
• Create a stimulating, and aesthetically welcoming, organized, functional, healthy, and safe classroom;
  
• Perform non-instructional duties with timeliness and accuracy;
  
• Attend professional development sessions in order to further advance professional practice;
  
• Continue to grow professionally through collaboration with colleagues and professional growth experiences;
  
• Maintain a reflective teaching practice.
  

Qualifications:

• New Jersey ESL Certification required;
  
• Familiarity with the use of instructional technology and differentiated instruction;
  
• Knowledge of effective/creative instructional strategies;
  
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility;
  
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues.
  

Working Conditions: Hackensack High School

Salary: As per HBOE/HEA Agreement
