Job Details

This adjunct instructor position requires teaching 10-24 hours weekly of intensive English for academic purposes in the Advantage VT pathway program. Instructors will uphold a leadership role in the future direction of the program and in curriculum planning. Qualified and experienced EAP faculty are a critical component in providing students opportunities for success and are integral to the team approach we take in preparing students for university study. During the time between sessions, instructors will handle pre- and post-term obligations.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, or very closely related field with a TESOL certificate (minimum 18 credit hours) Considerable experience teaching a variety of university ESL/EAP courses, levels, and skills   Demonstrated ability to use the latest technology and teaching techniques

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with integration of technology in the classroom including learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) Knowledge of and experience with curriculum design and evaluation Understanding of the US University system and environment and of the demands that international students will face in undertaking undergraduate level study Excellent oral and written communication skills International work experience Proficiency in a foreign language

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver up to three EAP courses per semester in accordance with the curriculum of the AVT program. Related duties as assigned, which may include: administrative tasks such as placement testing, institutional reporting, student advising, and other duties Adhere to and maintain program policies and procedures for curriculum, grade recording, attendance, and assessments Participate in planning and development of AVT curriculum, including creation and revision of courses Organize and implement orientation sessions, and complete pre- and post-term duties during intersessions as assigned Submit grades and other required reports in an accurate and timely manner Contribute to and participate in staff development sessions, regular staff meetings, and ongoing program development Collaborate with colleagues in a mutually supportive team environment Participate in professional development activities, including yearly attendance and/or presentation at TESOL conference at the international or affiliate level
