This position will be teaching in Gilmer, TX at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm-9pm.

Mission: To provide adult learners with the tools needed for success in education, workforce, and life.

Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate new student orientation process which includes greeting and registering new students, administering required assessments, scoring of assessments, and introducing students to the facility/site in a pleasant and effective manner.
  • Assist students with setting goals.
  • Refer students to different resources as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain lesson plans tailored to the instructional needs of students in accordance with Texas Adult Education Content Standards and syllabi.
  • Demonstrated effective job-related skills that model effective integration of technology.
  • Maintain documentation, such as attendance reports, student work and assessments, student portfolios, and end-of-month reports.
  • Administer and evaluate students in the correct assessment and in a timely manner per TWC AEL guidelines.
  • Assist in the counseling and guidance with emphasis on maximum progress of students.
  • Maintain retention of the site by outreach and recruitment efforts, daily classroom structure, and as assigned by immediate supervisor.
  • Perform general clerical tasks related to the position that includes typing, filing, xeroxing, e-mail communication, Internet searches, and word processing.
  • Attend all in-service training and maintain an annual minimum of 15 clock hours of professional development related to adult education.
  • Compile and deliver monthly activity reports to Longview offices
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A baccalaureate degree is required
  • Teaching certificate and experience highly preferred
  • ESL teaching experience preferred
  • Positive role model
  • Ability to work with a diverse student and employee population
  • Proficiency with computers and technology (e.g. Microsoft Office applications, Google, Zoom, etc.)
  • Experience teaching adults and/or facilitating groups
  • Experience working with educationally and/or economically disadvantaged adults
  • Experience working in collaborative or team environments
  • Manages time effectively
  • Maintains confidentiality of records
  • Dress is appropriate to the work environment
  • Maintains a safe, orderly, and clean environment
Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:
  • This is a part-time hourly position, at a rate of $19.00 per hour.
