Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute effective English language instruction for students with diverse linguistic backgrounds.
- Utilize research-based strategies and methodologies to facilitate language acquisition.
- Assess English language proficiency levels of English Language Learner (ELL) students using appropriate assessment tools.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary.
- Provide individualized and small-group support to address the specific needs of ELL students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate the integration of ELL students into mainstream classrooms.
- Cultivate a culturally responsive learning environment that values and respects the diverse backgrounds of ELL students.
- Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians of ELL students regarding their child's academic progress.
- Collaborate with fellow ESL teachers, general education teachers, and support staff.
- Attend team meetings and participate in professional development sessions.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of student assessments, progress reports, and parent communication.
Experience Required:
- Certification as an ESL Teacher by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or a related field.
- Previous experience working with English language learners.
- Strong understanding of ESL teaching methodologies and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
