The Purpose
Statement of Primary Purpose: Responsible for the delivery of appropriate quality English Language Acquisition instruction to English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in a classroom setting.

Additionally:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: All applicants must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a work-place setting or demonstrated instructional/teaching environment. A minimum of three years teaching English Speakers of Other Languages preferred.
Skills and the Know-How
Knowledge of best practices in English Language Acquisition; knowledge of state and federal regulations; Possess strong personal and professional integrity; possess professional verbal and written communication skills; possess good organizational skills; proficient with using technology
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an instructional team. Ability to relate to persons of diverse backgrounds and experience. Successful candidate must be able to multitask.Physical Demands: The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to, lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines. Must have a commitment to safety.

- Provide English language instruction that incorporates math and digital literacy
- Create and implement daily lesson plans
- Assign students to computerized instruction as appropriate
- Engage learners through contextualized, multisensory educational activities
- Support department policies and procedures
- Administer various formal and informal skills assessments
- Participate in professional development
- Record and report accurate student attendance
- Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable state and federal agencies.

- Exhibit a positive attitude, enthusiasm and a sense of humor
- Be adaptable to change
- Utilize sound judgement and decision-making skills
- Promote safety standards
- Represent BRCC at appropriate meetings, activities and conferences.
