Essential Functions

Teaching in the undergraduate and graduate English as a Second Language education program; teaching courses that focus on methodology, curriculum, procedures, and strategies of ESL education instruction; delivering instruction to teacher candidates and professionals; establishing and maintaining a record of scholarly productivity as demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, acquisition of external funding, and presentations at state, regional and national conferences; providing service at the University, professional and community levels; developing and maintaining partnerships with area ESL education programs for student field experiences; evaluating teacher candidates in field placements; chairing and/or serving on graduate committees and mentoring graduate students; and engaging in program development with faculty.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in an educational discipline. Teaching licensure or eligible for license renewal. Full-time teaching experience in a K-12 setting and full-time higher education ESL teaching experience. Ability to teach courses in the undergraduate and graduate ESL education programs. Familiarity with CAEP accreditation standards, K-12 ESL education standards, and EdTPA. Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with faculty, colleagues and administrators. Ability to integrate technology into instruction and documented evidence of online course content delivery. Ability to advise students, serve on and chair masters level committees, and serve on doctoral level committees. Commitment to and potential for developing proposals for external funding. Demonstrated scholarly publications/research endeavors.

Preferred Qualifications

In person and online university teaching experience in ESL education.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 2024. Benefits Information

Benefits include the accumulation of one sick leave day per month and thirteen University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
