The Department of English at DePauw University invites applications for a one-year part-time position at the rank of Instructor to begin in August 2024. Master’s degree in TESOL, Composition, English, Education, or closely related field by the time of appointment is required. A commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal-arts setting and evidence of effective and inclusive teaching are essential. The department specifically seeks candidates to teach academic English and writing (ENG 110 and/or 115) to multilingual international students. Teaching assignment is up to four courses per year.

English 110 and 115 provide support and instruction in academic English and writing. Students are enrolled in the courses based on a placement test. English 110 focuses on developing language skills for advanced academic coursework, including vocabulary, fluency, and sentence-level accuracy, while English 115 develops familiarity and facility with academic writing.
