Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in TESOL or closely related field required (Ph.D. degree welcome).
  • 3 years of experience in teaching ESL or EFL to adults at the college level, preferably in an Academic Intensive English Program (IEP).
  • Educational background in Linguistics or experience with teaching introductory level courses in sociolinguistics and language teaching methodology.
  • Understanding of current L2 teaching strategies and techniques and second language acquisition theories.
  • Experience training or mentoring future ESL/EFL teachers.
  • Background in online teaching preferred.
  • Ability to work well with a team and understand challenges and learning needs of L2 students.
  • Experience with adapting to cultural differences or teaching in culturally different settings preferred.
  • Ability to use learning management software.
  • Evidence of professional activity in the TESOL field.
  • Ability to teach courses through a variety of delivery modes, including online and hybrid settings.

Major Duties:

  • Teach 28-32 credits of ESL and TESL per academic year.
  • Assist in providing and sharing in cultural experiences.
  • Assume all obligations of a full-time faculty member including departmental and curriculum planning/assessment, professional and scholarly development, institutional and community service, textbook adoptions, scheduling, and student recruitment and advisement.
  • Summer teaching may be needed with overload pay.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary: based on the highest degree earned and years of experience granted at hire. Excellent benefits package. This is a full-time tenure track position.
