Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the High School Principal help to ensure development of students' academic and interpersonal skills through academic courses of study and implement District approved curriculum; document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; address specific education needs of students; provide a safe and optimal learning environment; provide fee back to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.

Working Conditions
Work is normally performed in an interior/office setting, with given activities requiring outside management of activities for limited and extended periods of time. May be required to assist with moving large items or lift, push, or pull up to 40 pounds.
Term of Employment
185 days / 7.5 hours daily. Work schedule to be established by the Board of Education on an annual basis, through the recommendation of the Superintendent.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach content and skills to High School students in one or more of the following areas: Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, Geography, or Biology. utilizing the required standards and benchmarks in the curriculum adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Instruct students in citizenship, expected student behavior, and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Adopt reading materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students.
- Select and requisition books, instructional aids, and maintain required inventory records.
- Adapt the curriculum to provide individual, small group, or remedial instruction to meet the needs of the individual student.
- Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
- Evaluate each student's progress in subject skills.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
- Communicate with parents on a continuous basis on student's progress and behavior.
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Supervise students in and out of classroom activities as assigned.
- Gather data in order to develop strategies for student improvement.
- Maintain professional competencies through in-service education activities provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Attend board meetings at the request of the superintendent or his/her authorized designee.
- Perform other tasks as deemed appropriate and necessary by the supervisor(s).
Qualifications
- BA/BS or higher degree
- Properly certified in all areas of assignment
- Demonstrates cooperativeness and willingness to carry-out assigned tasks and performance responsibility
- TESOL Endorsement desired
- Other qualifications as determined necessary by the board
