World Relief seeks a Digital Literacy Specialist & Library Liaison. This position has three main responsibilities: 1) create, coordinate, and instruct newly enrolled adult English language learners in digital literacy lessons to ensure equitable access to the online language classroom; 2) work with Instructional Manager and Curriculum Specialist to ensure digital literacy curriculum is meeting student and instructor needs; and 3) liaise with local partner libraries for effective programming and efficient progress checks on collaborative projects.

This role will be located at the Carol Stream, IL office but will need to drive to Aurora office as needed.

Digital Literacy InstructionProvide student-centered digital literacy instruction for English language learners (newly arriving refugee, asylees, and community immigrants).In collaboration with the Instructional Manager and Curriculum Specialist, design scaffolded lesson plans and curriculum materials focused on building the fundamental foundation for practical digital literacy skills essential for success in the online language classroom.Work with World Relief instructional staff to integrate technology and digital interactives into all English language classes.Support digital literacy skills development in the classroom.Create a learning environment that is welcoming, accessible, engaging, and participatory.Through weekly digital literacy seminars, successfully equip newly arriving refugees to start their online Workforce Readiness Classes.Prior to the beginning of classes each month, implement three-day digital literacy intensives to successfully prepare newly enrolled low-level adult English language learners to join their online classes.

Library LiaisonRemain in regular and timely communication with all host libraries, while also pursuing prospective library partnerships.Work together with WRDA Adult Ed administration and library representatives to track progress on joint grant projects.

Professional DevelopmentComplete a minimum of fifteen hours of professional development each fiscal year.Participate in the delivery of internal professional development workshops.Develop leadership in the following ways: o In conjunction with the Instructional Manager, coach and mentor new and existing instructors in how to best and most organically integrate digital literacy skills and digital learning opportunities in the classroom. o Accept additional responsibilities for the Adult Ed Department & WR as they arise and as capacity allows.Attend staff meetings as required.Participate in Adult Ed Department sponsored events.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

•General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.

•Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.

•Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.
