NOTIFICATION OF VACANCIES: MATH ACCELERATION ACADEMY TEACHERS
Applications will be accepted for Math Acceleration Academy ESL Teachers in the Westfield Public Schools for the 2024 Math Acceleration Academy for Grades 3-10. This program is scheduled to begin Tuesday, April 16th and end Friday, April 19th and is designed to accelerate student learning through engaging, standards- aligned math lessons. All instruction will be provided in person.
PROGRAM DATES:
Tuesday, April 16, 2024 through Friday, April 19, 2024
PROGRAM HOURS:
Grades 3 & 4 will run 8:45 am - 2:45 pm
Grades 5 through 10 will run 7:45 am - 1:45 pm
TEACHER HOURS:
Grades 3 & 4: 8:30 am to 3:00 pm
Grades 5 through 10: 7:30 am to 2:00 pm
TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Create math lessons focused on standards determined by the district and focused on student needs. Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to meet the needs of English Learners. Tailor lessons to the specific needs of students and include engaging, hands-on learning experiences Encourage, support, and motivate students in a class size of approximately 10-12 Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Strive to develop positive relationships with students Implement the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) model Make contact with identified students' families to explain the program, provide logistics, and sign them up for this Acceleration Academy Participate in any staff meetings, needed plannings, and preparation prior to the start of the Academy outside of regular school school hours. Participate in any Professional Development that is offered prior to the start of the Academy week. Perform any duties that may be assigned by the Director of Assessment & Accountability and Program Site Coordinator
