REPORTS TO: Principal PAY GRADE: Paraprofessional 030
DEPARTMENT: Assigned Campus DATE REVISED: January 2020
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist the classroom teacher to provide for the physical and instructional needs of students. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.

Minimum Education/Certification:
- Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
- High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to work well with children
- Proficient communication skills
- Ability to operate computer using a variety of basic applications
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
- Assist teachers in providing modified instruction for ESL students in inclusive settings
- Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom
- Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
- Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
- Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
- Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
- Serve as an interpreter in situations when one is needed
- Assist students with activities of personal care which can including diapering, toileting, and/or dressing
- Any other duties as assigned by Campus Principal.
