The ESL Adjunct Instructor will facilitate ESL classes for LSSNCA's first-ever "in-house" ESL program. LSSNCA's VA will initially provide in-person and virtual ESL classes tailored to meet the need of Limited English Proficient (LEP)clients and ease the burden of English language learning for newcomers. The goal of this provisional of "in-house" ESL classes will enable LSSNCA clients to build English language skills more quickly, as well as boost confidence in skills needed to pursue and retain employment, become self-reliant, and actively participate in their community.

Essential Functions
Essential Functions Design and implement ESL curriculum for various English levels focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
- Teach English conversation and grammar skills to adult learners of diverse professional/educational/cultural backgrounds.
- Evaluate students' needs and progress by providing opportunities for communication, practice, and growth.
- Develop and maintain individualized skill-appropriate lesson plans for students.
- Plan and deliver effective differentiated instruction.
- Establish a culture of learning along with a respectful environment.
- Communicate directions, expectations, procedures, and content with students.
- Use student data to inform instruction and integrate differentiated instruction.
- Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Degree or certificate in TESOL or closely related field OR bachelor's degree plus a TESOL certificate (or equivalent).
- Experience working with adult English Language Learners (ELL)/English as a Second Language (ESL) learners.
- Background in teaching English/Professional Writing/Advanced Grammar
- Previous experience in ESL/ELL teaching
- Program management or coordination experience is preferred
- Experience with English learning assessments is preferred
- Curriculum or program design for various experiences is preferred.
- Degree or certificate in TESOL or closely related field OR bachelor's degree plus a TESOL certificate (or equivalent).
- Computer Skills
- Familiarity with 365 Microsoft Office Suite;
- Other Requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills;
- An enthusiastic, positive, and ready-to-teach attitude;
- Must be comfortable in public speaking and training roles;
- Self-started with ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
- Be patient, excited and passionate about helping immigrant communities;
- High comfort level with English grammar and a wide spectrum of language learning topics;
- Valid driver's license
- Clean driving record
- A personal vehicle
- Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of the US resettlement program;
- Familiarity with local organizations, communities, and resources;
- Strong skills in writing, Excel, and program coordination;
- Positive, friendly, and can-do attitude;
- Experience with resource or content development;
- Data entry and use of general office equipment.
