The job of the EL/Special Project Coordinator is for the purpose of leading and/or providing oversight of the district work, budgeting, and application related to the English Learner and Migrant Education Programs, under the direct supervision of the Public School Unit Executive Director of Federal Programs. This work includes planning, developing, implementing, and
monitoring both ESL and Migrant education assurances for improving student academic performance.Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in the field of education.
- Must have NC Teacher Certification with at least five years of teaching experience.
- Knowledge of Title I and school-wide goals and how they relate to the specific needs of English Language Learners (ELLs) and Migratory Students.
- Knowledge of educational and community resources available for ESL and Migrant students and staff.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
- Provides an organized program to assist in the successful delivery of educational services to English Language Learners (ELLs) and Migratory Students.
- Mentors content and ESL teachers in best practices for ELLs and Migratory students.
- Assists in the implementation, oversight, and evaluation of the NC ELD Curriculum.
- Plans, coordinates, and trains staff for the W-APT testing program and the ACCESS for ELLs testing program.
- Holds monthly meetings with staff for the ESL, Migrant, and regular school programs.
- Assists with Hispanic parenting components (councils, conferences, Multicultural night).
- Facilitates ELL staff development for ESL and regular classroom teachers.
- Assists with database management of student records and required reporting issues including parent notification.
- Understands of MEP duties such as recruitment, record clerk, MSIX, and student advocacy.
- Work collaboratively with building principals, EL teachers and tutors, content teachers to design equitable service delivery for EL and Migrant students.
- Attend special education and retention referral meetings when they involve EL and Migrant students.
- Helps plan, coordinate, and supervise the EL/Migrant summer and Saturday Academy programs.
- Assists with ESL and Migrant job interviews for potential candidates and assists with assessing each candidate's oral fluency and written proficiency in English.
- Attends state, regional and local conferences, meetings, and webinars pertaining to the ESL and Migrant programs, as needed.
- Analyzes and evaluates student data.
- Monitors ELL Educational Plans for EL students.
- Monitors Migrant students' transcripts to ensure on-track for graduation.
- Assists with EL, Immigrant, and Migrant Headcount.
- Responsible for student assessments in the Transition Center.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Federal Programs and School Improvement.
The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the ESL/Special Project Coordinator job classification within Hoke County Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
Must be able to:
