Job Title: Elementary Teacher K-3, Bilingual ESL or Dually Certified ESL/General or Special Educator
Reports to: Principal & Director of English Language Learning
Department: ESL
Work year: 2023-2024 school year, 184 days
FSLA Status: Exempt, Unit A
This exciting new teaching position will serve students in K-3 inclusive of Bilingual speakers in our newly developing Elementary Transition Program to support Newcomer students with social,emotional and behavioral skill deficits who are transitioning to the Westborough Public Schools.
The ESL Teacher fosters a love of learning that encourages student curiosity, engagement, and growth in a welcoming community of learners. The teacher provides learning experiences that engage students in language arts, math, science/technology/engineering, social studies, and social-emotional learning guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards and requirements. The ESL Teacher facilitates English language acquisition and the academic, social and behavioral supports for students who are English Language Learners through direct service, collaboration, consultation, and coaching.
The ESL Teacher works in partnership with a Clinician and Paraeducators to ensure that students progress with their ability to access their education in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Creates a welcoming and supportive learning environment that embraces the diversity among individuals and ensures equitable opportunities for student learning and community membership Engages English Language Learners through linguistic frames for speaking, listening, reading, and writing Provides learning experiences across all subject areas though the development of rigorous units and lessons that are differentiated and scaffolded based on student need Scaffolds language for academic support, both in direct-service through various models, including co-teaching and inclusion, and through consultation with other educators Teaches language beyond a task Monitors students' understanding of the curriculum , provides specific feedback students, and adjusts instruction, materials or assessments when appropriate Evaluates and refines instructional practice and assessment strategies to increase student learning, engagement, language acquisition, and confidence Engages in internal and external professional development activities and meets district expectations for licensure recertification Collaborates with other educators to provide the appropriate instruction and supports for English Language Learners Participates in all school based and district-wide faculty and committee meetings as required Partners with families and caregivers to keep them informed about their student's progress and welcomes input from families and caregivers. Performs any other relative duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
The ESL Teacher does not have supervisory responsibilities for other staff.
Salary and Benefits
Salary and benefits, for permanent benefits eligible staff, are per contract between the Westborough School Committee
and the Westborough Education Association.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field
- Bilingual: Fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Professional Certification:
- MA DESE licensure in ESL
- Additional certification in special education and/or Elementary Education highly desirable
- Hiring Requirement:
- Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), Sexual Offender Record Check (SORI), and fingerprints
- Experience teaching English Language learners and in a diverse public school setting
- Experience with students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, trauma experience, and/or learning challenges
- Knowledge of WIDA Standards and language objectives
- Strong background in language acquisition instruction
- Strong background in literacy and math instruction,
- Highly desirable to have experience with:
