Description

Supports the Director of Adult & Community Education with planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the recruitment and retention efforts of Adult Education ESL programming. Works in close coordination with Hispanic Engagement Coordinator, Coordinator of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, Career Services Coordinator, Workforce Services, and the Student Success Department to help facilitate transition to post-secondary education and the workforce.

Examples of Duties

A. Onboarding all ESL students, including recruitment, intake, placement, support & transition; coordinating and proctoring all Adult Education orientation and placement testing.

B. Mentoring/training/supervision of support staff responsible for testing, including TABE, CASAS and BEST PLUS test proctors.

C. Assisting with case management/student support, such as mentoring, academic advising, career counseling, interpreting test scores, referring/connecting with other KCC departments, programs, and student services, as well as community resources; assisting with applications; writing letters of recommendation; verifying attendance and academic progress; and serving as liaison with probation, juvenile probation, and parole officers.

D. Assisting Director with developing grant proposals and reporting related to all grants; analyzing data and developing summaries to assist Director with grant proposals and required reporting.

E. Assisting Director with developing and reporting departmental budgets.

F. Assisting Director with data management using DAISI.

G. Representing KCC at community outreach events; serving on boards of state and national level associations that advocate for and provide professional development opportunities Adult Education programs.

H. Using/managing numerous software programs.

I. May be required to provide both oral and written translation in Spanish/English or other languages as-needed.

Minimum Qualifications

A. Associate degree in a related field preferred; an education or social services degree preferred. Commensurate experience considered.

B. ABE/ASE or ESL teaching experience preferred.

C. Community college work experience preferred.

D. Reliable transportation required.

E. Qualified candidate must be functionally literate in reading, writing, and computation skills as well as computer literate or willing to learn.

F. Multilingual English/Spanish desirable.

Supplemental Information

Minimum hourly rate of pay is $16.36/hr. ($34,023 annualized).
