New Haven Public Schools is looking for Retired Teachers to fill vacancies in shortage area subjects:

The Governor's Office released a statement on January 11th, 2022, regarding Executive Order 14E that allows retired teachers to continue working under their existing post retirement elections while exempting the earnings between July 1st , 2021 and February 15th, 2022. We have posted information on the Teachers' Retirement Board website as a reference to districts and members on how to proceed under this order. Important items to remember:
  • All Post Retirement Rules are still in effect.
  • The member has retired from the CT Teachers' Retirement System under the "normal retirement" criteria; or
  • The member is 62+ years old at the time of reemployment; or
  • The member has had a six-month break in service since retirement and no prearrangement to return to work at the time of retirement.
  • All retirees that are hired by the district must be reported both at the beginning and end of their assignments.
  • Use Post Retirement Reemployment Reporting Form to report members working under the 45% rule.
  • Even though earnings from July 1st through February 15th, 2022, will not be counted towards the 45% cap, they still need to be included in total reported earnings on the end of assignment form.
  • If a start of assignment form was submitted prior to Executive Order 14E, only an end of assignment form is required.
  • Use the Post Retirement Employment Rules form to report members working under those provisions.
  • All rules regarding reemployment under these provisions will remain in effect.
  • Executive Order 14E will allow someone who selected year 1 for school year 2021-2022 to select year 1 again on a subsequent school year's application; and
  • Members who selected year 2 on their 2021-2022 form can select year 2 again on a subsequent school year's application.
