Position Overview:
English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Instructors deliver EFL lessons to international high school students based on the curriculum provided. Lessons focus on listening and speaking skills. EFL Instructors report directly to the Academic Supervisor.
Schedule:
The employment period is during Summer 2020; dates may be flexible based on instructor flexibility. Most students are with the PLUS program for two-week sessions; PLUS runs overlapping sessions over the course of the summer. Peak enrollment is usually the last two weeks of July.
Students receive 30 hours of instruction over the course of 8 classes. Classes are Monday-Saturday, on average 4-5 times a week with Saturdays required. Some weeks may require up to six days of classes. Most lessons are 8:30am-12:15pm, with some additional afternoon classes 1:15pm-5:00pm.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver well-prepared English as a Foreign Language lessons to diverse classrooms of international high school students in a professional and engaging manner
- Review the curriculum provided by PLUS to adequately prepare for each lesson; instructors should be prepared to supplement the curriculum with their own materials, as appropriate.
- Assess whether students have been placed in the correct level of instruction
- Orally assess students” proficiency levels, as directed by the Academic Supervisor
- Practice appropriate classroom management techniques to ensure a safe, comfortable, and engaging learning environment for all students
- Collaborate with the Academic Supervisor and PLUS Head Office regarding instructional methods and the PLUS curriculum
- Attend training session and any additional meetings organized by the Academic Supervisor and/or PLUS Head Office
- Maintain frequent and professional communication with the Academic Supervisor
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications and Desired Skills:
- Authorization to work in the U.S. required
- Must be 18 years or older
- Bachelor”s degree required (at the time of start date); TESOL certificate and/or Master”s degree preferred
- Prior EFL/ESL teaching experience strongly preferred
- Experience working with multicultural and multilingual classrooms strongly preferred
- Command of Google Drive (including Google Sheets and Google Slides) and the Microsoft suite of products (including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) strongly preferred
