The Assistant Director of the Connecting Adults to Professions and Education (C.A.P.E.) Program will work within the Meharry Center for Health Policy to assist with the educational, community engagement, and workforce components of the program. This position will work with the CAPE staff to execute the programmatic goals outlined in Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Grant. This grant funded position reports directly to the Program Director.

Daily Operations

• Teach synchronous and asynchronous classes and learning activities Monday through Friday with some evening classes.
• Participate in a rotating teacher schedule for workforce development monthly and a rotating teacher schedule for courses taught on Saturdays.
• Develop, plan, and implement lesson plans and educational programs using the required curriculum, supplies, and resources.
• Deliver personalized and differentiated instruction to each student.
• Evaluate and document students' progress.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by state regulations.
• Supervise classes to ensure all students/participants are learning in a safe and productive environment.
• Supervise part-time staff to collaborate and maintain program goals and outcomes.
• Must be able to multi-task, and focus with composure, in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
• Must possess exceptional communication skills in oral and written form.
• Thorough knowledge of office administration (including office machines and equipment, and computer software)
• Plan and implement educational activities and events.
• Participate in professional development trainings
• Travel to satellite locations to teach courses as needed, Monday through Friday.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• In- depth knowledge of teaching methods and educational procedures.
• Proven abilities to work efficiently and effectively with local and state agencies.
• Must be organized, creative, independent, and self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detail oriented, flexible in scheduling and prioritization, and driven by excellence.
• Must be able to work cooperatively with program staff and comply with College employee policies and procedures.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with students', management, staff, and the community.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) year's teaching experience.
• ESL Endorsement or TESOL Certification preferred.
• Current TN Practitioner/Professional License required.
• Spanish speaking preferred.
