As Chief Operating Officer you will support the President and CEO in the delivery of annual and long-term strategies that advance CIEE's mission across CIEE's operational, financial, information technology, facilities, legal, and fundraising activities.

You are experienced with working closely with the Board of Directors, the CEO, the executive team, and other senior leaders across an organization.
What you'll do:
As Chief Operating Officer you will support the President and CEO in the delivery of annual and long-term strategies that advance CIEE's mission across CIEE's operational, financial, information technology, facilities, legal, and fundraising activities.
- Serves as principal support and advisor to the President and CEO; supports the President and CEO in dealing with a range of organizational, financial, operational, facility, and public relations issues; directly handles matters of institutional importance on behalf of the CEO, as appropriate.
- Responsible for the financial strategy and stewardship of CIEE, leading the finance team, including the CFO, in the formation of budgets, financial forecasts, financial planning, annual audits, and other duties related to ensure exceptional financial management of CIEE.
- Responsible for the technology strategy, leading the technology team, including the CIO, and the delivery of best-in-class technology solutions to advance CIEE's key strategies, especially those related to sales and marketing, fundraising, increasing operating efficiencies, and IT security.
- Responsible for managing CIEE's global facilities, working closely with the President and CEO, the Sr. Vice President for Global Operations, and external consultants.
- Responsible for guiding CIEE's legal team and advising on legal strategies and various matters related to legal compliance, safety, and personnel, as needed.
- Participates with the President and CEO and other senior executives in institutional planning and development of CIEE's business strategy, goals, and objectives.
- Provides strategic consultation to the President and CEO and senior administration on major issues affecting CIEE, including business development and partnerships.
What you'll bring:
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience with managing complex business operations, finance and budgeting, and technology, with at least 5 years in an executive-level position
- Advanced degree in business administration, finance, law, or a related field; MBA or JD preferred
- Experience working in the education, nonprofit, or study abroad industry is highly desirable
- Proven record of increasing revenue, meeting sales and enrollment targets, and developing and implementing successful business strategies
- Experience in managing and overseeing multiple departments, including financial, operational, and IT functions
- Proven success at leading large, complex organizational change initiatives
- Strong understanding of and experience with international operations and regulations, especially international labor laws and legal issues
- Experience working with and reporting to a Board of Directors
- Excellent problem-solving, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed

- Communication: Must have outstanding communication skills with an ability to frame ideas in a high-level way to positively influence the Board of Directors, the President and CEO, the senior leadership team, and outside stakeholders, while effectively communicating management decisions to all employees
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and multitasking. Ability to think critically, prioritize and solve problems.
