Job Purpose:
The Center Academic Manager (CAM) is responsible for the implementation and administration of all aspects of the academic program, management of the academic team and their performance, ensuring that all students benefit from the program.
Work Schedule:
This is a residential position (full board & dorm accommodation are included)
A flexible work approach towards the position with the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays is required.

LA - CSULA
Training Days Activity Leaders / Teachers: Mandatory full day Thursday, June 15 (9-5) and recommended Wednesday, June 14 (12-5)
Camp Dates: June 18 - August 6 (candidate move-in dates, as well as start and end dates, may vary, and do not coincide directly with camp dates)
CSULA Teaching Timetable: 3 hours of teaching on Mondays; 6 hours of teaching on Wednesdays and Fridays (Monday 9am to 10.30am and 10.50am to 12.20pm, Wednesday / Friday 9am to 10.30, 10.50am to 12.20pm, 1.50pm -3.20pm and 3.40pm to 5.10pm). If double banking, teaching is scheduled Monday afternoon and the full day schedule is repeated Tuesday/Thursday. Teaching is possible on Saturdays as well.
LA - UCLA

Job Purpose:
The Center Academic Manager (CAM) is responsible for the implementation and administration of all aspects of the academic program, management of the academic team and their performance, ensuring that all students benefit from the program.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the delivery of quality customer satisfaction by providing and delivering a high-quality academic program
- Organize and manage the academic timetable and course planning
- Organize and manage placement testing for students upon arrival, and the appropriate placing of students into classes based on test results
- Manage the appropriate use of academic materials and resources
- Ensure that lessons are integrated, following our syllabi and guidelines
- Support, monitor and guide teachers through lesson observations and feedback
- Maintain recommended staffing based on student levels and ratios
- Contribute to student”s development of life skills through program assistance
- Teach when required, to meet operational needs
- Ensure that all students complete an End of Program questionnaire and are presented with a certificate of achievement and report (correctly completed) before departure
- Respond to and deal with student and Group Leader inquiries regarding classes and levels
- Establish a positive working environment with the teaching staff
- Review and approve all teacher timesheets in collaboration with the Center Manager
- Liaise regularly with the Center Manager and Group Leaders to ensure that high levels of student safety, welfare and discipline are maintained
- Help and assist in running the center temporarily in the absence of the Center Manager or Activity Manager, and during the weekends
- In collaboration with the Center Manager and other center management staff, to carry out a 24-hour emergency on-call rotation schedule
- Lead and participate in weekly meetings with group leaders
- Lead in the professional development of teachers by performing weekly observations and providing immediate and constructive feedback during the course of the program to ensure delivery of a high quality academic program
- Lead with coordinating student arrivals and departures while assisted by the Center Manager
Qualifications & Training:
- Experience managing an academic staff including hiring, training and team building
- 2+ years of ESL teaching experience; proven experience teaching ESL to a wide variety of levels and age groups with demonstrated effective teaching methods
- Experience and familiarity with continuous enrollment courses and weekly intakes
- Native level of fluency in English
- Bachelor”s degree plus MA TESOL, TEFL Certification
- Effective communication (written and verbal) and supervisory skills
- Proven excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work with a team in a varied and fast-paced role in a high pressure environment
- Ability to lead and inspire teaching staff
- Working knowledge of computers and Word and Excel programs
- Valid First Aid and/or CPR Certificate (Desirable)
- Lifeguard and/or other coaching qualification (Desirable)
