Summary

The Director of Curriculum Development will assume a crucial leadership role, spearheading the creation of a dynamic and impactful Bible-based Literacy curriculum. This curriculum will serve as a powerful evangelism and discipleship tool, particularly in non-Christian societies and challenging environments. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience and visionary insights to design a curriculum that is both Biblically grounded and engaging, incorporating the latest literacy research findings. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that our field partners receive an effective program that equips students with essential reading and writing skills while aligning with the organization's strategic priorities. This remote full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.

Duties

  • Lead the development and implementation of a new Bible-based literacy curriculum that will address the needs of students from all nations, aligning with BLI's philosophies, statements, policies, and strategies.
  • Develop and implement strategies for expanding the literacy program to other countries and student populations, focusing on communities with lower literacy rates, including those who would like to learn English as a Second Language (ESL).
  • Ensure that the curriculum is Biblically-based, attractive (to increase student motivation), and based on current literacy research.
  • Develop the curriculum (with the support of a task force from the field) to create a high-quality, attractive/inviting curriculum that combines Biblical teaching with research-based literacy/ESL instruction and activities.
  • Ensure the curriculum meets the identified needs of increasing teacher and student retention, gaining control of the curriculum in-house to add flexibility, increasing literacy and teaching linguistic skills necessary for reading the Bible, adjusting content to include contexts that meet the changing practical needs of students, and creating a more direct alignment with BLI's philosophies, statements, policies, and strategies.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and outreach plan to ensure the curriculum reaches the target audiences and expands to new communities.
  • Collaborate with all Regional Directors and VPs to ensure BLI's strategic initiatives of Adult, Youth, Children, Prison, and Church Planting are at the front end of development.
  • Continuous professional development and staying updated on advancements in language teaching and learning will further enhance your curriculum development skills.
  • Establish a prayer group to cover the project in prayer, seeking the Lord's will, strength, and wisdom.
  • International and domestic travel is required approximately 10 -15% of the time.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the VP of Content & Training Development.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Christian, having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Must also agree with our statement of faith and conduct his/herself in a Christ-like manner.
  • Must have at least a Master's degree or higher in Education, Literacy, Curriculum Development and Instruction, or a related field, providing a solid foundation in educational theory and practice.
  • Possess a minimum of ten years of experience in curriculum development, focusing on developing literacy curriculums tailored for under-resourced communities.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of current literacy research and a firm grasp of effective teaching methodologies, ensuring the curriculum is grounded in evidence-based practices.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, including effectively managing teams and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to ensure the curriculum's success.
  • Display a proven track record of developing and implementing strategic plans and successfully managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration and relationship-building with individuals from various backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Possess a deep commitment to Christian principles and values, ensuring the curriculum aligns with biblical teachings and promotes spiritual growth among learners.
  • Display a willingness and ability to travel internationally, recognizing the potential global reach of the curriculum and the opportunity to support Christian education in diverse cultural contexts.

Performance Evaluations

You will meet with your manager quarterly in alignment with our fiscal year to discuss your accomplishments and priorities.
