The Assistant Director of Multilingual Learning provides academic support to multilingual students and the faculty members who teach them. The Assistant Director is expected to be creative, innovative, entrepreneurial, and work with the International Student Support and Off-Campus Study teams in the Center for Global Programs (CfGP).

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Provide academic support to multilingual students and the faculty members who teach them. The Assistant Director is expected to be creative, innovative, entrepreneurial, and work with the International Student Support and Off-Campus Study teams in the Center for Global Programs (CfGP).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Support the academic work of multilingual students–including international students, heritage speakers, generation 1.5, and others–through one-on-one tutoring and small group consultations
- Develop and teach the English for Academic Purposes [EAP] curriculum.
- Teach the W101 First Year Writing Workshop for multilingual learners on an as needed basis.
- Recruit and train Student Consultants for the Multilingual Learning Office.
- Provide support for multilingual students participating in the Summer Scholars program.
- Work with the CfGP Assistant Director of International Student Advising/Career Coach to support the needs of multilingual students in the internship and career advising process.
- Partner with support units across campus (the Academic Resource Center, the Library, the Writing Center, First-Year Programs, the Center for Learning and Teaching, Admissions, and Financial Aid) to design and implement new strategies to support the academic needs and cultural competency of all multilingual learners.
- Work with faculty to develop support for multilingual learners in classrooms in various departments across campus.
- Collaborate with the CfGP off-campus study team to develop support for multilingual students on outbound programs and students residing in the Global Living Community (GLC).
- Work with the CfGP International Student Support team on international student support initiatives as needed.
- Develop and implement strategies to support multilingual students during the academic integrity process and devise strategies for continued academic progress while on probation.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the CfGP to develop, launch, and run Center programming.

General supervision is received from the Director of the Center for Global Programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
· MA in Linguistics, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), Sociolinguistics, Composition, Rhetoric, Literature, or related fields.
· + 3 years of university-level instruction/advising experience with a focus on multilingual or international students. CELTA or other TESOL certification.
· Knowledge of best-practices in instructional and writing pedagogy relative to multilingual students, and experience teaching/advising a wide array of students from diverse linguistic and academic backgrounds.
· Experience in and faculty development, inter-departmental and administrative collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working in a liberal arts setting in higher education
