Are you available from January 2023 for a full-time role in a secondary academy in Manchester?
Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for a teaching assistant with experience of supporting teenagers who speak various languages to join the EAL department of a secondary academy in north Manchester.
This is a full time, ongoing temporary role to cover a maternity leave from January 2023 to July 2023
The Role
English as an Additional Language Teaching Assistant
Five days a week 8.30am - 3.30pm
Working with small groups of students with varying English comprehension and understanding ranging from children with some English fluency and some who have recently arrived in the UK with no English language skills
Experience of planning and delivering interventions to children aged 11 to 16 is essential
Working collaboratively with the Head of EAL and Head of English and SENCO
Working 1 to 1 with students on speaking, listening, writing and reading.
Adapting resources for children with additional learning needs in addition to English needs.
The school welcome applications from TEFL and ESOL specialists.

"Students who speak English as an additional language are extremely well supported to develop their knowledge of English language, both in class and through additional support. Older students take 'English for Speakers of Other Languages' courses and qualifications, which support them well when applying for further education courses. They also help younger students speaking English as an additional language to learn English and help them to settle into the academy."
To join us and be successful in this EAL Teaching Assistant role, you will need to:
A TEFL / CELTA/ ESOL qualification
Experience of teaching or supporting groups of teenagers aged 11 -16 either in a school or college or in other similar environments such as Youth Centres, places of Worship, supplementary schools etc.
Have excellent understanding of the English language and communication skills
Provide a CV with 10 years of employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained
Have the legal right to work in the UK
This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if you have lived abroad for 6 months or more in the last 5 years) and professional references checks
