Primary Purpose: The primary responsibility of the ELT and Cultural Orientation Instructor is to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to assist newly arriving, employable refugees. ESL instruction targets English language acquisition and ultimately promotes job readiness and self-sufficiency. The ELT and Cultural Orientation Instructor will also teach cultural orientation classes to newly arrived clients and will work with diverse literacy levels, from non-literate adults to those who have mastered conversational English.
Essential Duties:
Provide remote ESL instruction to varying class levels utilizing program curriculum materials.
Support Cultural Orientation Instructor to teach classes to newly arrived clients
Act as a resource for students, giving information to help them survive and thrive in their new communities.
Always maintain confidentiality of student records and personal information.
Document all contacts and services in client case files and maintain case note logs.
Support the Associate Director in compiling data for funder reports.
Maintain cooperative relationships and open communication with all staff and students.
Perform all duties in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
Assist in enforcing classroom rules and administrative regulations.
Work varied hours, including some night and weekend work.
Undertake other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Two years of experience teaching adult English language learners.
TESOL certification required/willing to obtain
Fluency in English.
Superior written and oral communication skills.
The successful applicant must have experience working in a multi-cultural environment and must be sensitive to the cultural and linguistic needs of clients.
The applicant must demonstrate creativity and initiative and a high level of organization.
Previous work experience and interest in refugee resettlement and employment services is desired.
Experience with virtual learning platforms .
Knowledge and experience working with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Special Requirements:
Proof of COVID Vaccination required (or weekly testing).
