LaAmistad is seeking an ESL Coordinator for in-person classes and virtual. The ESL Coordinator will work with the Program Director in planning, coordinating and managing the program delivery of adult English language classes at various locations. This position works part-time with a range of 5-15 hours per week depending on location and class sizes. This position may require weekends (Saturday mornings 8:30-1:00).

Responsibilities


  • Administer placement testing
  • Process, input and update all registration data
  • Manage Administrative backend for students and volunteers
  • Support with training and onboarding of new volunteers
  • Observe ESL classes and provide feedback to teachers and Director
  • Teach ESL classes in the absence of a teacher
  • Assist teachers with copies and other materials
  • Administer student exams and grading as needed
  • Peacefully and quickly resolve conflicts with volunteers or students
  • Report no shows to staff ( teachers and students)
  • Answer questions and inquiry pertaining to the ESL program
  • Participate in staff meetings
  • Communicate any changes to program participants in a timely manner
  • Complete program report at the end of each session


Qualifications


  • Prefer TESOL certification or working toward completing a TESOL certification. Experience in teaching ESL
  • The ability to communicate with, supervise, and empower others to be effective in their roles
  • Customer service
  • Experience working with volunteers is preferred
  • The ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within diverse families
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as during parent/or community events
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word/Excel/PowerPoint
  • Must have own transportation and hold a valid driver's license
  • Commitment to program's goals and mission
