Start Date: January 2023
Schedule: Ongoing - as the course dates are finalized with the RELO office. An average of 10 hours a week, with more of a time commitment at the start of the program.)

Position Description: TESOL International uses the Canvas platform to deliver educational and training programs. The OIA will support 115-120 participants enrolled in Canvas in the following ways:

  1. Support participant's initial access to online courses
  2. Support student engagement in the course
  3. Document and report on participation, engagement, and communication with participants and key stakeholders (participants, instructors, TESOL staff, and RELO contacts)

Required qualifications:

  1. Canvas LMS proficiency
  2. Excel proficiency
  3. Experience working with multilingual professionals
  4. Experience working/communicating across cultures

Desirable experience:

  1. Familiarity in ELT
  2. Work in online teaching

Responsibilities:

  1. Support participant's initial access to online courses
    1. Provide technical assistance to participants (email, tutorial, group, and individual support) on
      1. Setting up passwords
      2. Logging in
      3. Locating their course
      4. Communicating with instructors and TESOL
    2. Monitor Canvas rosters and login data five days per week
      1. Compare with TESOL rosters and follow up with missing participants
      2. Document communications and maintain updated roster data
  2. Support student engagement in the course
    1. Provide technical assistance to participants on
      1. Maintaining course participation
      2. Uploading and submitting assignments
      3. Communicating with instructors and TESOL
    2. Monitor Canvas rosters and login data five days per week
      1. Identify and follow up with participants who are falling behind
  3. Document and report on participation, engagement and communication with participants and key stakeholders (participants, instructors, TESOL staff, and RELO contacts)
    1. Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service as a representative of TESOL International Association and its diverse membership
    2. Respond to participant queries and technical assistance needs in 24-48 hours from the time the participant sends the request.
    3. Notify learn@tesol.org of time-sensitive issues, like incorrect emails, or Canvas access issues in 72 hours.
    4. Maintain the confidentiality of all participant data (Do not store any data in google drive or other external platforms. Blind copy participants on group emails. Utilize Canvas communication tools when possible.)
