It is important that you have experience working in ESOL, with children in the age range 5-18. As an ESOL Teacher, you should excellent communication skills and a great amount of patience, as learning will be challenging for many of the students. You should plan your lessons to be fun and interesting, to increase engagement as much as possible. You are encouraged to get creative!The ESOL Teacher role:As an ESOL Teacher, you will be planning and delivering ESOL lessons to students in a variety of schools. The children will have a wide range of English ability, so it is important that you establish early on the needs of each individual and tailor your lessons accordingly. Many of the children are refugees, so it is vital that you approach the role with a great amount of compassion. You should have a real passion for the language!The role also requires that you assist the teaching staff with workshops and lectures on how they can improve their own ESOL work as a school.
