English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher
Direct Supervisor/s: Principal, Assistant Principal
This posting is for the 2022-2023 School Year.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver daily effective differentiated instruction
- Demonstrate knowledge of resources, student needs, curriculum, content, and pedagogy
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers to plan and execute core content lessons that meet academic standards while developing language proficiency for English Learners
- Ensure students are receiving accommodations and modifications in accordance with IEPs, 504 plans, etc
- Use data to analyze the academic and linguistic needs of students for instructional purposes
- Ensure that Center City PCS is in compliance with Federal and State Law
- Set instructional outcomes
- Design student assessments
- Create an environment of respect and rapport
- Establish a culture of learning
- Manage classroom procedures and student behavior
- Communicate directions, expectations, procedures, and content with students
- Engage students in learning with quality questioning and discussion techniques
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness
- Use student data to inform instruction and integrate differentiated instruction
- Engage parents and families in their childs academic success by fostering an ongoing relationship centered around hopes and dreams
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
- Participate in the Center City PCS learning community via PLCs, campus/district professional development, and weekly campus based grade-level planning sessions
- Reflect on teaching by accepting ongoing informal feedback and implement changes based on that feedback
- Following school-wide procedures for attire, behavior, and punctuality (teacher hours are 8:00AM - 4:00PM)
- Attend and participate in occasional school events outside of regular school hours
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in applicable subject area, as appropriate
- Passing Praxis scores (Elementary, ECE, or content specific test)
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (preferred)
- Demonstrate verbally basic clinical/diagnostic understanding of the identified childs needs
- Certification in TESOL
- Demonstrates ability to use data to assess student learning, with evidence of growth
- References that reflect high standing with past employer
- Able to lift up to 10 pounds and able to stand for long hours
- Must be able to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 on first day of employment.
